8-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Quezon City, Juvenile Detained for Investigation
An 8-year-old girl was tragically found lifeless in an empty lot in Quezon City on Sunday afternoon, according to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD). The child had last been seen playing near her home around 2 p.m. on Saturday while her parents were briefly away purchasing food.
Upon returning later that evening and finding their daughter missing, the parents conducted a local search before notifying the Barangay Peace and Security Office and Fairview Police Station 5.
Police reviewed nearby CCTV footage which showed the girl in the company of a 13-year-old boy approximately an hour after she was last seen. This led authorities to the vacant lot where the girl’s body was subsequently found.
Items recovered at the scene included the girl’s underwear, shorts, and a knife. Forensic teams also collected buccal swabs and fingernail clippings to assist with the investigation.
The 13-year-old boy, now classified as a Child in Conflict with the Law (CICL), was taken into custody by the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) for further questioning. Details regarding his apprehension have not been disclosed.
The QCPD has strongly condemned any form of violence against children and has pledged to ensure justice is served for the victim and her family.
