DSWD's Pag-Abot Outreach Aids 39 Vulnerable Street Families in Quezon City and Mandaluyong

In a demonstration of sustained compassion and commitment, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently conducted its latest Pag-Abot outreach operations in Quezon City and Mandaluyong. Led by Secretary Rex Gatchalian, the initiative directly assisted 39 individuals and families experiencing street situations by providing essential food, clothing, temporary shelter, and formal assessment for long-term intervention.

This outreach effort underscores President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s Maasahan at Masipag social governance program, championing an expanded network of compassionate and reliable support systems for the most vulnerable urban communities across the Philippines.

Secretary Gatchalian emphasized the program’s goal, stating, "Through Pag-Abot, we ensure that no Filipino is neglected or left behind on the streets. Our mission under President Marcos Jr.'s leadership is clear — reliable compassion coupled with tireless action."

The Pag-Abot program forms a core pillar of PBBM’s vision as the Reliable Guardian of Vulnerable Filipinos, delivering on the administration’s message: "Reliable Compassion. Tireless Action: No Filipino should be left behind on the streets."

By conducting on-the-ground direct service activities such as food distribution and immediate shelter provisions, alongside formal assessments aimed at sustainable support and rehabilitation, the outreach teams enable the government to respond with tailored long-term interventions. This approach reflects the administration's intensified effort toward inclusive social governance.

"Our work does not end with providing immediate relief," Secretary Gatchalian added. "We assess the root causes and link beneficiaries to programs that restore dignity and opportunity. This is the heart of Maasahan at Masipag — government presence that is dependable and persistent."

Local authorities in Metro Manila have welcomed enhanced government engagement, recognizing that interventions like Pag-Abot reduce the risks and hardships faced by persons in street situations, while paving pathways to reintegration.

Through the continued expansion of Pag-Abot outreach operations, the Marcos Jr. administration manifests its pledge to uplift marginalized populations with dignity and respect, turning social welfare promises into tangible realities on the streets of Filipino cities.
