Independent Commission on Infrastructure Receives P41 Million Budget for 2025
The Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI) has received P41 million as its funds for 2025, Malacañang announced.
During a Palace press briefing, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace press officer Claire Castro stated that the Department of Budget and Management has approved the special allotment release order (SARO) for the ICI's initial budget to be released in September.
"Ayon po sa DBM, iyong SARO po ay as early as September ay nandiyan na po," Castro confirmed.
She further explained, "Ang natatangi lamang po siguro nagkaroon ng konting delay ay iyong pag-i-implement po… At iyong modified disbursement system. At ngayon po ay maitatanong po natin, iyong pondo po ay nasa kanila na."
Earlier, former ICI member and Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson expressed concerns regarding the ICI’s limited budget and the absence of enabling laws necessary to strengthen its anti-corruption efforts.
The ICI was created by Executive Order 94, issued by President Marcos in September, establishing it as a non-partisan fact-finding body tasked with investigating flood control anomalies.
In November, the Office of the President approved a P41 million budget for 2025 for the ICI, along with 172 authorized positions to support its operations. 💙
