Wizards Dominate Pacers with Strong Defense and Marvin Bagley III’s Double-Double
The Washington Wizards secured a commanding 108-89 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday in Indianapolis, fueled by Marvin Bagley III’s season-best performance of 23 points and 14 rebounds. Washington's defense stifled Indiana, limiting the team to just 36.9% shooting from the field and controlling the glass with a 56-41 rebounding advantage.
This marked the fewest points the Wizards have held an opponent to since restricting Memphis to 87 points in November 2021. Additionally, it was the first game in the 2025-26 season where Washington kept an opponent under 90 points.
The Pacers struggled offensively, making only 31 of 84 shots overall, while the Wizards converted 41 of 89 attempts. Justin Champagnie matched Bagley’s 14 rebounds, contributing 13 points, while Kyshawn George narrowly missed a triple-double, grabbing eight rebounds, handing out nine assists, and scoring nine points.
Among Washington starters, George was the only one not to reach double figures. CJ McCollum added 18 points and six boards, while Bub Carrington contributed 11 points and five assists. Off the bench, Tre Johnson scored 14 points on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc in 16 minutes, and Will Riley added 12 points in reserve.
Bennedict Mathurin led Indiana with 15 points, one of five Pacers who scored in double figures. Jay Huff posted 13 points, Jarace Walker 12, and Isaiah Jackson 11 off the bench. Notably, Pascal Siakam was held to 11 points, well below his season average, on 4-of-12 shooting.
The Wizards dominated early and maintained control throughout the game, highlighted by a 23-9 run to close the second quarter, during which Indiana endured multiple stretches exceeding two minutes without a field goal. Although the Pacers trimmed the lead to single digits briefly in the third, Washington responded with a 15-8 run to close out the period.
Washington maintained its defensive pressure to finish strong, holding Indiana below 90 points for only the second time this season.
