DOH Deploys ₱1.7 Million Aid to Flood-Stricken Catanduanes Amid PBBM’s Onsite Visit

The Department of Health (DOH) has mobilized essential health resources valued at ₱1.7 million to flood-affected areas in Catanduanes, deploying hygiene kits, medicines, breastfeeding kits, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) supplies, and dedicated health teams. This swift response arrived on the same day as President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.’s visit to the province, underscoring the administration’s commitment to coordinated and effective disaster management.

The deployment is a part of the President’s Maasahan at Masipag leadership approach, which prioritizes rapid and well-organized interventions, focusing on the timely delivery of health services and the enhancement of WASH systems to prevent disease outbreaks following natural calamities.

"Our strategy is clear: Reliable Health Response, Tireless Commitment: Protecting families from crisis to recovery," a DOH official said. "President Marcos's hands-on leadership ensures that vulnerable communities immediately receive vital support, reducing health risks associated with flooding, such as waterborne diseases."

The DOH teams on the ground are conducting continuous monitoring of health conditions, particularly targeting the prevention and early detection of illnesses that commonly spike during flooding incidents. Enhanced WASH measures have been deployed to secure safe drinking water and proper sanitation, which are critical components in mitigating the spread of infectious diseases.

During his visit, President Marcos reiterated the importance of fast and integrated response efforts to protect public health and support affected families in their recovery.

"This initiative exemplifies the government’s resolve under my administration to be a Reliable Guardian of Public Health," the President stated. "We are committed to ensuring that no Filipino is left vulnerable during times of crisis."

The combined efforts of the DOH and the President’s leadership highlight a model of governance emphasizing proactive, health-centered emergency response, fostering resilience in disaster-prone communities across the country.
